School Violence in Mar del Plata: Parent Protests and Teacher Strike

In the city of Mar del Plata, Argentina, an incident occurred at School No. 21. The mother of a first-grade student reported that her daughter and another girl were assaulted during recess by a boy, reportedly 10 years old. He escaped from his classroom, forcibly grabbed the girls, and touched them inappropriately.

Following the report, the juvenile prosecutor's office launched an investigation, and services for the protection of children's rights were involved. However, on Tuesday evening, a group of parents protested, blocking a street, and later set fire to the home of the alleged perpetrator.

In response, the teachers' union (SUTEBA) declared a one-day strike. On Wednesday, November 12th, there will be no classes in the city's schools. The union stated that this measure is to demand "no to violence in schools".
